Today’s coffee companion works in the sales team in the UK for a big Cloud SaaS provider.

We talked about why I was doing this experiment, and her reflections on a similar experience she had but focusing on lunches rather than coffees, and inspired in turn by Kaley Chu.

We talked about the mood of businesses when it comes to how hybrid working is now, and how it might evolve.

We talked about the importance of curiosity and how surprisingly many people seem to lack any in the world of work.

We talked about the nation of Zambia, and our own connections to the country (mine through my grandfather, her’s because it’s where she was born and brought up). We talked about the importance of career north stars.

We talked about how the post-Covid, hybrid world of work might lead to opportunities for countries like Zambia to develop further and faster. We talked about how emerging economies are often unburdened by the technical debt of legacy technologies.

I eulogised about the recent episode of Song Exploder that featured Sampa the Great.

It was a very nice way to end the week.
