My first coffee companion today is the founder and CEO of a business that provides freelance professionals who can deliver projects.

We talked about the challenges of establishing a new business and balancing being clear about what you do with the necessary expedience of being able to turn your hand to anything.

We talked about how the arrival of children changes your perspective of work and seems to remove any spare time in your life (for a while at least).

We chatted about the experience of working with Equal Experts, on my side as an employee, and on her’s as a supplier. I extolled the wonder of a flat manager-less structure.

We talked about the importance of understanding value propositions from the client or customer’s perspective, and how much use I’ve got from the Value Proposition Canvas in the last few years.

We explored the Brown Bag Conversations idea, and the curse of being asked to do things for “exposure” when exposure doesn’t pay the food bill.
