Back in 1994 I bought my first windows PC. I say bought… It was actually leased from Radio Rentals. Manufactured by Olivetti, it was a 486 with a whopping 4 mb of RAM.
I remember the awe and amazement as I saw a postage stamp-sized video clip played off an encyclopedia CD-ROM that came free with this processing beast.
Putting aside the multiple obsolescence that is included in the story above (Radio Rentals, Olivetti, 486, CD-ROM, encyclopedia), I was reminded of it when yesterday I was watching BBC iPlayer on my recently updated to 2.2 Android phone. Without wishing to sound like an old git… Blimey there has been some progress in this technology stuff.
