Back to "work"

After a pleasant week's holiday down in the South West of France, it's back to the task in hand.

Technology has had a dramatic impact on the recruitment market in some respects – it's certainly a lot easier now to get to find out about opportunities through mass recruitment sites like monster, the open door to CVs that most of the headhunters now seem to have adopted, and 2.0 sites like LinkedIn.

But all of this is starting to make the CV an even more important document, and I'm wondering if the approach that I've traditionally taken of trying to keep my resume within two pages of A4 is slightly obsolete in these days when they have become searchable via database. Actually, getting as much detail in as possible might be the way forward…

Heidrick and Struggles are going one stage further and have now launched their Visual CV service. Not sure that I'm ready to do my CV in video yet…
