This week I have learned:
- Glasgow by train is an adventure. I love a good train journey. It’s just a shame I did both legs in the dark.
- Seatfrog and the ability to get a cheap upgrade to First Class.
- It’s been nearly 26 years since the Agile Manifesto was signed, and people still forget it was only ever described as a way to build software. Organisations, for the most part, aren’t agile. They’re not agile because their cultures, working practices, and governance aren’t agile. That’s by evolution, design and necessity.
- 26 years after the Agile Manifesto, we are still looking for ways in which linear-focused organisations can co-exist with agile software teams. The answer isn’t “Make everything else agile too” because everything else isn’t software, despite the hype.
- It’s nice to hear that I have made a difference.
- It’s totally implausible that I have a 17-year-old son.
The week in media:
Saw
- May Day, with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. Suitably silly end of Cold War comedy thriller.
- The final episode of The Traitors. It’s a very good format.
- Stephen Graham in the first few episodes of Nocturne. Chilling.
Read
- Continuing Joey D’Urso’s More Than A Shirt.
Listened
- Probably too many podcasts about the US mid-terms.
Next week:
- Another outing for Random the Workshop, this time with the World Cup of Dice.
