This week I have learned:
- How much people fear giving feedback. It’s a key work skill, and so few people have ever been trained in how to do it effectively.
- Quite how loud an MRI scanner is. Nothing serious, but had my first scan last weekend. I imagined myself in the docking scene from 2001.
- That private healthcare is almost as good as parking providers at disseminating utterly unintegrated digital experiences. In three weeks, speaking with two specialists, I’ve racked up five separate apps or web portals.
- It reinforces my long-held view that many of the challenges in the NHS are boundary and silo issues. The same seems to manifest in the private sector, but there’s less flaking paint and nicer-smelling hand soap.
- I like Manchester. It’s a manageable size in the way that London isn’t. Was there again briefly this week for work.
