This week I have learned:
- the joy of rediscovering a fountain pen and paper. And then seeing what happens if I feed my daily note taking into Claude. So far, it’s curious, but not necessarily productive. And that’s fine for me.
- the joy of mentoring. Well done Mel on the new job!
- how the conversations that still are coming from the 2023 project #100Coffees continue to amuse and inspire.
- how making a call not to travel this week, given seventh-circle meteorological conditions, was a huge reflief.
- how important it can be to sometime get people to appreciate that the conversation is the outcome, not just a tools to define even more actions.
- that it sometimes makes sense to put a few ducks in rows before a conference.
- how LLM coding is now allowing me to do things I wouldn’t have done in the past. We were having problems managing screen time for a particular game on youngest’s Mac (short version: if it’s not downloaded from the MacOS app store, their screen controls don’t really work).
And so I have converted an old micro PC into a Linux server, installed AdGuard, and then built a super simple app that allow us to turn that game on and off via a web page. - This would never have happened six months ago.
- Al Boccon Di’Vino in Richmond is a remarkable place.
The week in media:
Saw
- The new Now you see me, now you don’t.
Don’t bother. - Started The Boroughs, which looks interesting.

- Been a bit light this week, other than procurement documents. Have, however, got the new John Niven for holiday reading.
Listened
- The News Agents to keep up to date with the PM speculation.
Next week:
- Off to Osea Island for a bit of Off-Grid Sessions.
