This week I have learned:

  • ah, conference. Three days of intense peopling. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it.
  • lots of conversations over the past few days about the book. People continue to seem intrigued by the whole idea.
  • what if we could create leadership support for technology and digital leaders as part of our offer? Too often the thing that is holding back tech and digital leaders is their ability to lead (in all directions). It would, however, need to look like something that wasn’t either coaching or traditional management consulting. Trojan Leadership Mice, to paraphrase Euan Semple.
  • despite the hype, I do think that there’s going to be a long term impact of generative tools on creating code. It’s getting to be too good to ignore. The potential for disposable code is fascinating to me. As is the ability to create explanations of things in code. But Jevons Paradox will apply…
  • of the very sad early death of Kenny Jackett. A lynchpin of Graham Taylor’s 70s-80s Watford team, and born in the town too.
  • twice this week I have made introductions to people in my network and have struck gold. I love it when a plan comes together.

The week in media:

Saw

  • Apex with Taron Egerton and Charlize Theron. I kind of enjoyed it, but I did also finish it thinking “Not sure I know what the point of that was?”

Read

  • the Beastie Boys Book. Which I should really have got around to earlier than this.
  • I also started “What if Reform Wins” and it’s remarkably depressing.

Listened

  • I have become somewhat obsessed with George Benson’s Give Me The Night. The backing singers are incredible.

Next week:

  • The Launch.
