This week I have learned:

  • The value in remembering the Kirkpatrick Model. What we think about an experience immediately after we have experienced it might not be the same at the longer term impact.
  • I had a conversation this week that really, deeply challenged me. It involved worldview and self-perception, and I’m still trying to figure out what to think about it.
  • I’m thrilled this election stuff is nearly over in the UK. Six weeks was about five and a half weeks too long.
  • I’m meeting up with friends in London on Thursday evening. Does anyone know if they are 3D-projecting the exit poll results onto the front of Broadcasting House this year? I’m quite keen on the idea of being on Regent Street to see that come up at just past 10 p.m.
  • This week, I met with a few folk who do slightly different consulting in slightly different consultancies. It was good to hear about how others approach it.
  • The adoption of Varifocals has been surprisingly quick and easy. That’s another one crossed off the middle-aged checklist.
  • There is definitely a new side project. I had a great catch up with the wonderful Nick Drage this week to talk about it. We’ll break cover soon, but suffice to say if you know any publishing people please put them in touch. We have something interesting in the pipeline.
  • I love building things. I love seeing the look on people’s faces when they get a new take on something. I love it when my family are all in sync and laughing together. I love it when I’m making great pizza. I love it when I’m locked into the groove of making music. I love it when I do something that other people value. I love it when I get to see Watford play really well. I love cycling along the Thames early in the morning to work. These are just some of my passions. (See bullet point 2).
  • Six days left of this dreadful, morally bankrupt, self-interested, far too close to racist and certainly never anti-racist, culture war chasing bunch of second-rate politicos supposedly “running” things. Here’s to a decade or more of BORING politics.

Next week: Primrose Hill
