At the weekend I heard the terrible news that my friend and former Imagination colleague Simon King had passed away, quite suddenly, a few days before.

I’ve had two really great bosses in my working life. Simon was one of them. The support, space, assistance and occasional kick up the arse that he provided in the time I had working with the team at Store Street made it some of the most productive time of my career to date. Since I left in 2011 we would meet up for lunch a few times a year and share stories about what we had been up to lately.

Alongside the work stuff, Simon would usually have bought yet another bicycle and would share with immense pride the latest achievements of his sons. I would always leave thinking about how nice it was to catch up, and how I could be doing more as a father.

I know I’m not the only person struggling to make sense of Simon not being around anymore. I’m going to miss him.
