More current stuff I like…

Last February I made some notes about some technology that I was using at the time. Thought it about time for an update.
The biggest change in my information consumption has been the acquisition of an Android phone. Rarely is it used for phone calls, but Google Listen (for podcasts), NewsRob (a view of interesting RSS feeds that I manage in Google Reader, and the paid for version of Spotify (which has dramatically changed the way I listen to music) are my mainstays. Google Maps with Navigation also comes in handy in the car. Email access for both my work and personal accounts is useful too.
My work BlackBerry is where I do my mobile typing. Whilst the Android is great for much, I just cannot get my fingers around typing on a touch screen. The mini-qwerty on the Curve 8900 is great.
On both phones I have recently moved to using HulloMail for voicemail. All my voice messages are emailed as MP3s, and that gives me access (and, more importantly, visibility) of messages independently of either device. Being based in a basement office with poor mobile coverage, this is invaluable.
In the Autumn of 2009 I moved both personal and work lives into Google. You may have noticed. I can't imagine using anything else at the moment. Mail</Docs, Reader, Maps, Picasa… the list goes on. The set of services become stronger as the integration between them improves.
In terms of devices, I'm still using a Lenovo T61 ThinkPad as my main work machine, although regularly use HP and Samsung NetBooks for access from home and abroad, as much of what I'm doing now is purely browser-based. I also have a Mac Mini on my desk at work so that I can see what things look like for the MacOS community in the company.
