This week I have learned:

  • the power of using Claude to explore my grandfather’s biography. I spent some time with my dad at the weekend, and he gave me a few more details about what grandad did over his long career in electronics. As a result I stumbled across a document outlining research papers published by the GEC Research facility in Wembley, in which grandad was mentioned nine times. In turn, pulling these documents together with other parts of the story have fleshed out a quite remarkable career, both in the war building Proximity Fuzes, and then into the emerging world of telecommunications. I’ll publish something soon.
  • also the continuing power of using Claude as a research tool to find interesting stories for the Random short videos. More are on the way soon.

  • I’m getting really fascinated by how quickly-built interactive digital tools might make in-person workshops even more interesting and immersive. I’m planning to use an app to build a card deck as the closing part of Random the Workshop, as well as other little pieces of interactivity along the way.

  • Squirrels. Bastard rats with fluffy tails. Put it this way – I’m. buying a steel dustbin because the plastic ones seem to be no match.

  • the now 20-year-old Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. Extremely silly, somewhat dubious in tone on a few occasions. Had never seen it before. It’s currently on Prime.
