This week I have learned:

  • the power that lies within Mark Earls’ deceptively simple 2×2 matrix to triage problems.
  • how nice it can be to have a last-minute invite to something (and diaries permit that to happen). There’s not enough spontaneity in modern life.
  • it appears that getting up at 5am on both days is a good way to get over the Spring clock-change weekend.
  • that dealing with large organisations can get truly Kafka-esque at times. Particularly at the end of the financial year.
  • that I have completed the first pass of providing online content for all of the stories in the book.
  • that the book is still waiting for a boat.
  • that Claude can write code impressively, but can’t explain a joke.
  • it’s damn certain of itself when it’s wrong, mind.

The week in media:

Watched

Further episodes of Last One Laughing. I think it’s the school assembly feeling of people not being allowed to laugh that makes it so amusing.

Read

Started The Score by C. Thi Nguyen.

Listened

For some reason, have been getting back into some Miles Davis this week. Of all the people I’ve seen play music over the years, I think I’m most grateful to have seen him play. Twice.

Next week:

A brief bit of Suffolk
