This week I have learned:
- the surprisingly life-affirming experience that was Jury Service.
- that spending a week with barristers gets you into a different mindset when it comes to assessing what people might mean when they say the things that they say.
- UI fails are still alive and well, and living in drinks vending machines (see photo below).
- life can come at you very fast sometimes.
- I have a rough rule of thumb that I’m doing things right when people come to me unprompted to ask for help. That happened with total strangers this week.
- this is a fantastic cottage pie-esque recipe.
- and this is the best chocolate cake recipe I’ve ever baked.
The week in media:
Watched:
The last episode of The Traitors.
The first episode of the BBC documentary about 90s girl bands.
Listened:
There are two albums on rotation for me at the moment, but as they are both contenders for this month’s WB-40 Album Club, I cannot reveal either of them.
Read:
A bit more of the book about the history of playing cards, and then started a new one – Third Millennium Thinking.
Next week:
Probably more waiting.
