This week I have learned:
- It’s a tricky thing when you go to the theatre and by the interval you know that the production isn’t very good. Out of politeness I stay. But is that me being a bit too British?
- The liminal state I’ve found myself in for the last few weeks is coming to a close. Jury Service next week. A new client for whom I need to go through some processes. Another client where the contracts are now signed, but the work doesn’t start for a month.
- I had a joyful evening with a few friends and colleagues on Wednesday doing Marcus JH Brown’s 90 Waypoint Walk. Last time I did it we ended up spectacularly finishing right outside where we needed to be. This time, we bumped into Soap Royalty Anita Dobson and her musician husband.
- John Willshire and I discussed the wonders of Dirk Gently along the way. I still hold great value in the Zen Navigation concept that Douglas Adams proposed in the second book. The 90 Waypoint Walk is Zen Navigation in action.
- Progress on the book continues. There’s been lots of helpful feedback, which has allowed us to hone how the book works. There’s also been lots of helpful feedback expressing positive thoughts about the whole concept. I need that reinforcement once in a while.
The week in media:
Watched
Finished Blue Lines at last. Also binged Riot Women which was very good indeed, if often quite harrowing.
Saw
The Frieze Art Fair in Regent’s Park.
Read
Still plugging away at Union Jack. I might have run out of steam with it now.
Listened
Another WB40 Album Club which took us to 90s britpop. I also finished listening to the book Year of the Rat, which was fascinating and terrifying in equal measure.
Next week:
Jury Service.
