This week I have learned:

  • The first week back is always the longest, isn’t it?
  • Debates about remote working appear as heated as they were at the start of the pandemic. The world has definitely moved on. Expectations have changed. But there are opinions.
  • Developers using LLMs like a coding language is fascinating. As far as I understand it, trying to remove ambiguity in your prompts through pseudo-code fundamentally misunderstands how LLMs work. They are not a programming interface even if they can chuck out working code.
  • The bubble burst is coming, isn’t it?

The week in media:

Watched

The Amy Winehouse biopic, which I thought was pretty good.

The Thursday Murder Club, which demonstrates that bringing together an excellent cast is not enough in itself.

Read

Finished Empire of AI. Now onto The Handmaid’s Tale.

Listened

Up to my 445th album on the Rolling Stone Magazine random odyssey.

Next week:

Some time in person with a client!
