This week I have learned:

  • the continuing power of connecting people. There have been a few opportunities in recent weeks where I’ve been able to make introductions to people from strangely diverse parts of my network. It’s a powerful thing to be able to do.
  • how much I value the community that has built up around wb40podcast.com. 14 of us met up for dinner in the week, and it was a delight to see everyone. The community is very much an unintended (but very welcome) consequence of setting the podcast up nearly 9 years ago.
  • how much I need a break. We have 3 weeks away coming up soon, but the down side of taking three weeks in one chunk is that you don’t have much of a break before then.
  • the power of human facial recognition. I was at lunch with a colleague this week and saw one of the senior folk from my BBC days on the other side of the room. Someone who I barely interacted with back then, hadn’t thought about for years, but immediately recognised.
  • that I’ve maybe cracked how to get a consistent yet eclectic visual style for randomthebook.com
  • the power of green-lipped mussel extract.
