This week I have learned:

  • how nice it is to hear that I am an inspiration to others looking to get better at working out loud. I think I’m one of the top five longest-running weeknoters, and working in the open kind of comes naturally. I think meeting John Stepper a decade or so ago really helped – it felt like if he could do it within the constraints of a big, global bank, then I had no excuses.
  • it’s also nice to hear when people are picking up on ideas I’m sharing and tell me how they have applied them themselves. From the AI Play Matrix to Value Mapping to helping someone acclimatise to their new place of work, it’s been a lovely week where many people have let me know I’ve made a difference. It’s essential to inform people about this stuff! It makes a huge impact.
  • that we’ve been shortlisted for one of the many bids that I’ve been working on (which makes up for losing two last week). Now begins the performing pony exercise. I might start referring to pitch presentations as Dressage.
  • again, my heartfelt thanks go out to Marcus Brown and his amazing presentation canvas.
  • my ability to turn half-baked ideas into half-baked prototypes knows no bounds at the moment. These aren’t winning products – they’re just ideas that I can help to fledge.
  • the countdown to summer holidays is now underway. 2 weeks until the school finishes. 4 until Malaysia.

The week in media:

Watched:

Glastonbury. You know what? I didn’t have the FOMO nearly as much this year.

Wimbledon. I prefer the first week when interesting things happen.

Heads of State. Extremely silly fun on Amazon.

Listened:

Continuing the Rolling Stone Greatest 500 albums. Up to 263 of them now.

Also had this months ration of vinyl: Olivia Dean, A Tribe Called Quest, Nadine Shah and Pulp.

Read:

Continuing Otto English’s Notorious.

Next week:

Dressage.
