This week I have learned:

  • Yes, there are some nasty people in the world. Many of them are in positions of great power and influence. But most of us are lovely. Thanks go to the three folk who helped me out in Manchester last night.
  • I would like to think that the correct sequence of events was that objects on the ground like kerbstones can appear distorted though varifocal lenses. The reality is probably one glass of wine too many.
  • It was wonderful to catch up with so many people up north, though.
  • Creating playful ways to explore how to do things is fun and effective. I introduced some colleagues to a value mapping tool that I’ve used for years on Thursday morning. By Thursday afternoon one of them had already gone and used it in the wild.
  • The work proper with the new client starts on Monday. I’m very excited by the prospect of working with new people in a new context.
  • After lots of social interaction this week, I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend.

The week in media:

Read:

I’m a bit flighty with books at the moment. Have started Question 7 by Richard Flanagan, which is intriguing.

I’ve also started to look at this from Bergstrom and West: https://thebullshitmachines.com/

Listened:

Promises by Floating Points and Pharaoh Sanders which is quite beautiful.

Next week:

New client.
