This week I have learned:

  • Waiting for things to appear can lead to anxiety. More so in the era of instant messaging when the “x is typing” immediate gratification has raised our expectations, probably badly. Sending emails to clients and not getting an immediate response is torture, but also utterly lacking in empathy. Our dopamine systems have been well and truly hacked.
  • Introducing people. I live for introducing people. Hello Simon and Andrew. Hello Sabrina and Chris.
  • I continue to be intrigued by the idea of inadvertent time travel. Have a look at your saved WiFi networks on your phone and remember the places you connected.
  • I loaded an entire book into Notebook LM this week. It’s fascinating for removing drudge work. Just don’t ask it to be creative.
  • The effort involved in travelling to see people seems increasingly large these days. It’s worth it, but I wouldn’t like to calculate the ROI.

The week in media:

Watched:

The rest of season one of The Rig, and then episode 1 of season 2.. Lost interest.

Listened:

Another 20KHz, this time about the Apple OS sounds.

Read:

I devoured Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. The first book in an age that I simply didn’t want to end. Beautiful.

Next week:
