This week I have learned:
- the power of convening. We had our annual conference in London this week (my third) and it was a simply wonderful series of days. I’ve got to know loads of people over the last two years, and they’re all lovely.
- three days of conferencing and two nights out, though. Let’s just say I’m feeling my age.
- I got the chance to put some Lego Serious Play into practice. A simple set of games to get a team bonding. It seemed to work well.
- talking of feeling my age, I’m typing this whilst wearing my first pair of varifocal glasses. I’m having to readjust, but I think the time had come.
- I missed the last world cup. I was boycotting it because of the whole Qatar thing. I’m loving the Euros. It’s made easier by not being a fan of any of the teams that are playing.
- I’ve started doing weeknotes internally for the piece of client work I’m currently doing. It’s getting good feedback. It’s also helping the team I think to process what’s going on outside of the more task-focused things.
- I was in the office today, and my week concluded with a big hug from our COO. Thank you, Sam. I wasn’t “in need of a hug”. It was just a lovely way to finish a very bonding week.
Next week: client offsite
