This week I have learned:
- the sheer emotional turmoil of taking part in one of Andrew Doran’s Album Club sessions as selector. The basic idea is a group of friends come together to listen to an album chosen by one of them in its entirety. Oh, the responsibility.
- the joy from coming up with new ideas to close out a project. Pin badges and custom greetings cards to celebrate the first 100 Coffees. I hope to be able to continue the practice for the second 100.
- a fortnight in the place, and I definitely feel some sort of affinity with Ireland, the country where I was born. But I’m not sure I fully understand it (the affinity or the country).
- teenagers and driving holidays don’t really work to well.
- does anything actually really need to be any longer than about 2,000 words?
- there’s a locker full of stuff in my head that I can drag out and make useful. It’s the combination of 30 years of work plus a diverse career and perennial curiosity, I think.
- I want to do something to celebrate my 30 years this October. Not sure what.
- too much about the world of corporate and startup financing. It’s a game of holding it all together until the next wodge of cash comes through, really. I can see parallels with narcotic addiction, having recently completed the incredible Demon Copperhead.
- the nights are drawing in etc.
Next week: preparations
