This week I have learned:

  • Italian train ticket machines are even more confusing than UK ones.
  • Emilia Romagna is a beautiful bit of the world.
  • some of my former team colleagues from my days at Imagination still talk about some of the things that I did (in a good way).
  • Intentionally unintentional feels like a good way to summarise some of the thinking that’s coming out of the 100 Coffees experiment.
  • The time between the schools breaking up and actually going on holiday is the most liminal of liminal spaces.
  • The history of the Bell Labs told in The Idea Factory is quite wonderful. It also maps very closely to the story of the work my grandfather did at GEC Marconi.
  • I’m not looking at the weather forecast for Ireland again. What will be will be.
  • I’m not sure it’s healthy, but I’m fascinated by user design challenges in bathrooms. What’s the perfect UI design for a tap, or a loo flush?

Next week: numerous catch-ups
