This week I have learned:
- the power of managing corporate history. I saw Giles Turnbull give a fascinating talk about his work curating the stories of digital organisations. It’s a hugely under-rated activity and I think I need to see more organisations doing it.
- which also reminded me of this exercise I did under the guidance of The PlayCards a while ago. My professional life as an art exhibition.
- I had a whale of a time with a couple of exercises in performance this week. First off, delivering a story about helping people to adopt new technology for over 220 managers in the Hays business, and then for about 20 people in a workshop at Agile in the City.
- hand-drawn presentations are my future.
- the City of Bath, however, is looking distinctly tatty these days. A symptom of The Last Thirteen Years.
- Giles also talked about weeknoting. I’m kind of proud that I’ve been doing this shizzle for longer, and more consistently than anyone else I know. Brevity is the key.
- out of the back of the 100 Coffees experiment, I’m going to be soon writing a short guide on how to have a coffee. We need to get more purposeful about carving out time without defined purpose in our hybrid world. That might sound like a paradox.
- I adored Sofa Glastonbury this year. Some amazing performances. I actually felt sad when it was all over.
- this afternoon our broadband went down. Fascinated to see how everyone deals with it this evening, but praying the OpenReach engineer will be able to fix it tomorrow…
