This week I have learned:
- That people are probably confusing Serious with Solemn, and banning humour and fun from work makes serious things so much harder. I had a lovely evening listening to Neil Mullarkey talk about humour and improvisation at work and then saw this (prompted by Tom Geraghty’s wonderful newsletter).
- In a conversation with a colleague in the week, there was a strong perception that playful activities and CxOs don’t mix. Is that the case? If so, how do they expect their organisations to be able to do things differently? Or is it an assumption by people who aren’t CxOs? In which case, how do you get brave enough to test the assumption? Are there any playful CEOs in this world?
- A whole year has passed.
- I’m actually getting increasingly angry with the “AI” narrative that’s everywhere at the moment. There are so many layers of hype, misunderstanding, spin, politics…
- This is the most useful thing I’ve seen regarding Apple Vision Pro. The eyeball tracking sounds really interesting. But the “I feel a bit sick” thing is still some way from being resolved, and I reckon it’s an issue of developer mindshare above all else.
- I never knew auditing could be so interesting.
- The process of hand-drawing my next presentation is really interesting, and rather fun.
Next week: four coffees
